A Guide to the DJI Spark Drone

DJI Spark Drone ReviewDrones are taking the world by storm. They capture incredible aerial footage and fantastic zoom shots with their agile capabilities and great camera lens.

One of the coolest new options on the market is the DJI Spark Drone. It’s tiny, lightweight and made with a sleek and effective design. Though your flight time will be a little shorter because the battery is smaller, you’ll never feel the drones weight on you when carrying it around.

Here’s a guide to everything you need to know when you’re ready to own this drone:

Dynamic Design

The DJI Spark Drone is small. It’s only 143 x 143 x 55mm and weighs about 10.6 ounces. This is great because it will fit into any backpack, or can even hang off you with no hindrance because of weight.

Though the DJI Spark Drone doesn’t have legs and arms that fold like some of the others, you can still collapse the propellers. The propellors will lock into place as soon as the rotors start going. The drone has an optional charging case to and ends up being about the same size as some hefty collapsible sunglasses.

This makes it so easy to tote your drone around. If you’re taking it on vacation, you won’t have to worry about it taking up any extra room in your bag either.

The Camera on the DJI Spark Drone

The reason we love drones so much is because of their ability to capture amazing aerial footage, make the camera an important aspect of any great drone. The DJI Spark Drone comes with a 12-megapixel 1/2.3 inch CMOS sensor that will take in full high definition video. With 30p and 3,968x 2,976 resolution images, you’ll be happy with your end result.

It has a digital sensor with a 25mm lens in front of it. The 25mm lens is about the same as the 35mm. You’ll get sharp, bold, colorful images with great exposure through this drone.

While it isn’t recording video at 4k resolution, it’s still capturing beautiful footage.

The DJI Spark Drone battery will give you around 16 minutes of flight time, if not more. To be on the safe side, bring your done back in after 16 minutes. While that isn’t a ton of flying time, it’s plenty to get great images, bring it in for a recharge and then send it back out.

Remember, with its convenient tiny size, you’re getting a bit of a small battery. However, sixteen minutes is a substantial amount of time to remain in the air considering the battery dimensions.

The only downside is it might take a moment or two to recharge to the drone. Have no fear, spare batters are here. It would be wise to invest in a pair of extra batteries for your drone so you can pop them in and get your DJI Spark Drone in the air while the other pair recharges.

Spec Life

The drone comes complete with TapFly and ActiveTrack modes, which are usually important to any avid drone owner. They let you tell the drone where to fly. If you have a specific place you want your done heading towards, you can program the drone to do so.

Furthermore, the Active Track lets you lock the drone’s sights on a specific person, place, or thing and then follow it for the entirety of its flight. If you’re feeling really able with your done, then kick it into sport mode and send your DJI Spark Drone flying at speeds up to 31 mph.

While in sport mode the drone will go into the first-person view. There are automated software controls in the app that lets you take a series of QuickShots and lets you capture some pretty amazing dramatic shots.

With the simple tap of a button the app, you can request your drone to zoom-out, or do sweep shots. The drone can do circular orbit shots as well. With this tiny DJI drone, you’ll get all the footage you need to create a complex, amazing looking video.

You can also edit the video and share it directly from your app. The drone has a VP range of 30 M and a transmission distance of 1.2Mi. The normal speed of the drone ie 50KM/H.

One of the best parts about this drone is how easy it is to get it up and going. When you are ready to fly your new baby, you turn on the drone and hold the Spark in front of you. Let the lens rest on your face and click the battery button.

Then, let the drone discover all it can about you. The propellers will start up and you can simply release it into the air like a baby dove. Th drone will stay near you until you use your hand to show it where to go.

You use waves and circular motions to command your done to head left, right, down or up.

The DJI Spark Drone is a great option for people who want to take their drone everywhere. Even if it doesn’t shoot in 4k, the truth is you’ll take it more places because of its size and get more footage on your journey. It’s fun to fly, and the QuickShots are one of the best features on the drone.

The palm controls are great and make you feel really in command of the drone. There will be future software updates that make this drone even better, too. When it comes to drones, there are so many on the market.
